Am 1.Mai erscheint mit "Beyond" das erste Mal seit 1988 ein Dinosaur Jr.-Album, welches in Originalbesetzung aufgenommen wurde. Bassist Lou Barlow über die Umstände, die 1988 zum Bruch führten, das Revival, seine Rolle in Dinosaur Jr. und das sehr spezielle kommunikative Verhalten von Gitarrist J Mascis: "The way I left the band was very sad. I came back because I wanted to rewrite the ending and turn it into something positive. And I think we've managed to do that. As far as J , the main motivating factor was money. J doesn't say anything directly, he only speaks through his management. It's weird, but it's part of the comedy. My role in Dinosaur Jr. is pretty clearly defined,I'm the bass player. But I wrote two songs for this album which is more than I've ever contributed to the band. It feels really natural being in this band again. I'm not as nervous as I used to be. But I have more to prove now than ever before."
