Die Australier Jet haben bei den MTV Video Music Awards letzte Nacht in Miami über The Darkness, Evanescence, Hoobastank und Linkin Park triumphiert; sie durften für ihr "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" die Trophäe fürs beste Rockvideo in Form eines Mondmannes mit nach Hause nehmen. Als Best New Artist wurden Maroon 5 gekürt. Auch Franz Ferdinand konnten feiern, bekamen sie doch den Breakthrough Video Award für ihr mitreissendes "Take Me Out".
